The Explorer is the workspace sidebar for project structure. It is the fastest way to select a project, open a book, open a manuscript, and reach project-level tools.
- Voices remain in settings. Pronunciations and Effects are project-wide resources in Project library, not settings overrides.
- Book rows group manuscripts and book-level configuration.
- Manuscript rows open the manuscript editor.
- Open Project Settings from its Explorer branch above Project library. Book and manuscript settings remain in their own action menus and open dialogs over the editor.
- Manuscript rows also include saved versions. Use View to open one saved version, or Compare to review what changed between two saved versions.
- Heading rows, when available, help you jump inside the selected manuscript.
- Comment and task count bubbles on heading rows jump to the first comment or task in that heading subtree and open its Comments & tasks panel. Clicking the rest of the heading row still jumps to the heading itself.
On smaller screens the Explorer may collapse so the manuscript editor or another focused pane can use the available width.
Open Project Settings immediately above Project library in the Explorer. It starts collapsed. Choose General, Typography, Headings & contents, or Voices to edit in the main workspace. Switching sections keeps your drafts and scroll position. Save changes saves all changed sections and keeps the page open. In nested editors, Apply changes adds edits to the project draft; save the project afterward. Leaving with unsaved edits offers keep or discard. Book and manuscript settings remain in their own dialogs; they can override inherited project defaults where supported. Provider secrets are never retained after leaving the project settings session.
Provider keys appears only for users approved to use their own provider keys (BYOK). Silence at the edges of synthesized speech is trimmed automatically; there is no toggle. Authored pauses and heading/block timing are unchanged.
General contains only the project chat toggle. Put project background and author guidance in Project library > Reference and Guidance, not a description field. Existing description metadata is preserved; saving settings neither migrates it nor overwrites the reference document.
Open Project library > Effects in the Explorer, below Images, Audio, and Files. Effect presets belong to the project and are shared by all its books and manuscripts, without book overrides. Choose New effect preset beside Help in the page header. Save changes saves immediately; closing with unsaved edits offers keep or discard. Preset previews use project settings and project voices. Choose Listen, then Play. Closing the editor leaves already playing audio in the floating player.
Project library
Expand Project library in the Explorer. Reference and Guidance comes first, then Pronunciations, Images, Audio, Files, and Effects. Pronunciations apply to the entire project and save directly. Its overview offers Upload but no file lists. Choose Images, Audio, or Files beneath Project library to browse files in the work area. Actions depend on your permissions.

Saved versions
Save a read-only version of the current manuscript. This does not create a separately editable copy or save every edit.
